Privacy Policy
How information is handled on the Health Promotion & Education website, with reference to Jamaica’s Data Protection Act, 2020.
Last updated: 17 October 2026 · Local review version
1. Who we are
This website presents the work of the Health Promotion & Education Unit of Jamaica’s Ministry of Health & Wellness. It provides programme information, resources, stories and activity listings for communities, schools and workplaces.
This version is a local demonstration being reviewed before public launch. The notice below explains the information handled by the review site and identifies arrangements that still require Ministry confirmation.
The Ministry’s offices are at 10–16 Grenada Way, Kingston 5, Jamaica. General enquiries can be made through the Contact page.
2. Personal information collected
You can browse programme information and resources without creating a public account.
If you use the Request support form, the information saved is:
- Your name and email address.
- Your organisation and selected support topic.
- Any optional request details you enter, such as the intended audience, proposed dates and location.
- The request record and its submission date.
The form asks you to acknowledge that your request will be stored for the website administrator. Please do not include medical records, screening results, identification numbers or other sensitive personal information.
3. Why information is processed
Information submitted through the local form is used to review the enquiry workflow and understand the support being requested. It is saved in the website’s administration area; submitting the form does not send an email to the Ministry or confirm a service booking.
For a live health-promotion service, the Ministry must confirm the purposes and applicable lawful grounds for processing before accepting public requests. The current review form records your acknowledgement of its local storage notice.
For an active service enquiry during this review period, call the Ministry general switchboard and ask for Health Promotion & Education.
4. Data protection standards
Jamaica’s Data Protection Act, 2020 sets standards for handling personal information. These cover fair and lawful use, specified purposes, relevant and proportionate collection, accuracy, appropriate retention, individuals’ rights, security and safeguards for overseas transfers.
Read the Office of the Information Commissioner’s explanation of these standards. The approved public website notice must reflect the Ministry’s confirmed processing arrangements.
5. Storage, access and external services
Local review submissions
Request records are stored in the local WordPress database. They can be accessed by WordPress users with permission to manage Service Requests. This form does not deliver requests to a Ministry inbox.
Videos and links
The site includes YouTube videos and links to external websites. Playing a video or following an external link may involve processing by that provider under its own privacy terms. Review those terms before sharing information with an external service.
Browser preferences
The site provides cookie preference controls. Browser storage may be used to remember those choices, and administrator sign-in uses WordPress authentication mechanisms.
The production hosting location, authorised recipients, security arrangements and any overseas processing must be confirmed for the public launch.
6. How long information is kept
A public-service retention period has not been approved for this local review site. Test enquiries remain in the local database until an authorised website administrator removes them.
If you have entered information during a review, contact the person who invited you to review the site to ask about correction or removal. The final public notice must state the Ministry’s approved retention arrangements before public enquiries are accepted.
7. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable legal conditions, Jamaica’s Data Protection Act provides rights relating to access to personal information, correction of inaccurate information, certain objections to processing, direct marketing and decisions based solely on automated processing. Consent-based processing also involves rights concerning withdrawal of consent.
For information about your rights or making a complaint, visit the Office of the Information Commissioner. For information entered into this local review site, contact the website administrator through the person who shared the review link.
The Ministry’s designated data protection contact and public request procedure must be included in the approved launch notice.
8. Changes to this notice
This notice will be revised when the website’s data-handling arrangements change. The date above identifies the latest update to this review version.
Before public launch, the Ministry must approve the policy, responsible contact details, retention schedule and service-request delivery arrangements. Those approved details will replace the local-review information on this page.
