Move for Health

Move for Health

A national call to make physical activity part of everyday life.

About the programme

Move for Health activities encourage Jamaicans to get active and highlight the role of physical activity in preventing and managing non-communicable diseases. Jamaica has used Move for Health Day and the wider May focus to bring movement into homes, schools, workplaces and communities.

The campaign message is simple: physical activity does not have to be complicated. Walk, dance, play, cycle, stretch, use the stairs, join a group or choose another form of movement that is safe and suitable for you.

Ways to take part

  • Add movement breaks to your day.
  • Join a community walk or Jamaica Moves activity.
  • Organise a workplace movement challenge.
  • Plan a school activity session or active break.
  • Choose active transport where it is safe and practical.
  • Invite family or friends to move with you.
