Move more. Eat well. Know your health. Practical ways to build healthier habits, wherever life happens.
Jamaica Moves is the Ministry of Health & Wellness' flagship programme for promoting healthy lifestyles and reducing the impact of non-communicable diseases. Launched in 2017, the programme turns health guidance into visible, practical action through public education, community engagement, partnerships and activities in schools, workplaces and communities.
At the centre of Jamaica Moves are three habits that can make a meaningful difference to health: regular physical activity, healthier eating, and routine or age-appropriate health checks. The programme also supports wider wellness and healthier environments so that individuals are not expected to make changes on their own.
Build regular physical activity into daily life and reduce long periods of sitting.
Make balanced food and drink choices guided by Jamaica’s food-based dietary guidelines.
Use routine and age-appropriate health checks to understand your risk factors.
Local partnerships, active spaces and resident-led wellness.
A whole-school approach to movement, food and well-being.
Build sustainable wellness practices with your workforce.

Jamaica Moves is designed for people at different ages, fitness levels and stages of health. You do not have to be an athlete to move more. Small changes count, and activity can be adapted to ability, health status and personal circumstances.
